Home Environment App

Rivne was created in collaboration with

Abby Gregory and Laura Hintzman.

Rivne is a smart home system tailored to foster a secure, streamlined home environment with an interface adaptable to each user. The name Rivne was derived from using a portion of the word environment, as we are part of the environment as a whole. It aims to bring together the natural environment and home the environment. The home page interface adapts to mimic the time of day.

The User

The target audience is millennial homeowners or residents. More specifically, Rivne appeals to environmentally conscious individuals or those who want to be more conscious of their impact. Through the app, users have an increased knowledge of the environmental impact of their home and can even look at their data compared to homes in the surrounding area.

Increased Connectivity

Through the user section, the account owner can grant authorization for users within their network to access controls of any of the sections of the app. This includes the lighting, temperature, security, and plant, sections. All aspects of modern life are centralized within the Rivne app. The location of each user is displayed on the floorplan and every person has a unique color that corresponds with their account. In-app messaging further strengthens the connectivity of all users. The app adjusts to the behavior and patterns of each user and generates suggested messages.

Landing Pages

Plant Section

Bulbs located in the pots of each plant monitor the water, soil oxygen, and sunlight levels of each plant as well as its overall health. Data can be viewed in live time or up to two years prior. When adding a new bulb, users are prompted to name their plant. By creating a circumstance where users have to personify their plants, they are more likely to feel emotionally connected to the plants and be invested in their health.
